British TV series "Injustice"

"Injustice" is 2011 five part British TV series about a criminal defense attorney (barrister) who struggles with legal justice versus true justice. The story moves between London and Ipswich and combines a current murder investigation with ramifications of a prior one. James Purefoy plays the barrister William Travers, who suffered a nervous breakdown after successfully defending a car bomb suspect he later learns was actually guilty. He returns to practice to defend a college chum of his accused of murdering a secretary in a hotel room. He makes a point of saying he needs to believe in his client's innocence to defend them. There's a pretty rotten and crooked police inspector involved as well. The show was well done and held my interest. You can see it on Amazon or for free on Vudu (with commercials). Altered Carbon

Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnamen) in "Altered Carbon" "Altered Carbon" is a 2018 Netflix science fiction series. There are 10 episodes in season one. Like so many other shows about the future (e.g. "Blade Runner"), it portrays a human society with highly advanced technology but vast gaps between rich and poor, and plenty of brutality and corruption. There are a lot of creeps in this future world! The setting is the year 2384 and the key premise of the show is that it is possible to store a human's consciousness in a device called a "stack" that can be inserted into another body. The wealthy have disposable bodies called "sleeves" ready to accept their consciousness whenever their current body needs replacing. Effectively they can live forever unless their stack is destroyed with no backup, referred to as "real death". Given their enormous wealth and longevity these people have great power, and even the police follow t

Out of Time (2003)

Out of Time (2003)  is a fast paced crime thriller starring Denzel Washington as the police chief (Whitlock) of a small town on the Florida Keys. His affair with one of the characters evolves into a complicated plot involving stolen drug money, a million dollar life insurance policy, and a double homicide. The evidence points to Whitlock but all is not as it seems and the film keeps you on edge as Whitlock attempts to stay one step ahead of the lead homicide detective assigned to the case, his wife who has filed for divorce (played by Eva Mendez). Recent Movies or TV Series I've Watched

Again, partly to remind myself, here are some recent movies or TV series I've watched on Netflix or Amazon Prime, with a comment or two. "Ex Machina" is a 2015 science fiction thriller involving artificial intelligence. Besides time travel, this is another area I enjoy and there have been some very good recent films about it. I have also read a couple of interesting books ("Superintelligence" by Nick Bostrom and "Our Final Invention" by James Barrat). What I liked about this film, without giving away too much, is I believe the ending is truly what would likely happen under the circumstances. You can read more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ex_Machina_(film) "Infinity Chamber" is a 2016 science fiction thriller on Netflix. The story emerges over time by virtue of flashbacks but the bulk of the story involves a man held in an automated prison and what he can do about it. His only companion is a computer named Howard who is charged wi
